Travel Journal: Washington/New York 2018: Day 5
Last full day of New York!
Tomorrow is travelling, and then we get home on Friday (just in time for pizza Friday at home).
Today was also a good day though.
We had breakfast at this lovely bakery, where I ate an almond croissant, before we walked Brooklyn Bridge, taking some pretty awesome pictures of the scenery.
Then we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was also very cool. We only had an hour in there, and I could have spent a whole day, but it was interesting and it smelt like a museum/gallery should do (is that weird? I feel like that's weird).
I bought a present for my friend (who keeps wondering if I've got her something, so this is to say that I have) and another bookmark to add to my collection.
We then walked through Central Park, where a group of us sang the 'Friends' theme tune (really out of tune) because one of us has never seen 'Friends'.
After this, we had a very quick lunch, then we went to the 'Top of the Rock' (Rockefeller Centre). It was like going up the Empire State Building, only it was daylight and you could actually see the Empire State Building (as we weren't standing on it).
Eliza (my friend) and I got very lost coming down from the top, and ended up quite a long distance from where everyone else was. We'd managed to walk around the centre in circles, find an exit and just walk out, coming out in completely the wrong place.
Oops.
Shopping time was after this (even more shopping time) and I did buy something! I bought another jumper saying New York on it, which I shall wear on the plane because it's big and comfy.
I'm also part of a group of three who were tasked with buying presents for the leader of the trip, so Elke and I bought a card for the trip leader (although we also bought one for each of the teachers because we're nice like that).
Finally, we had supper at the Grand Central Terminal, which was massive and there were so many choices of food. I shared chips with a friend, and then bought some amazing sorbet (one scoop mango, one scoop lemon).
And now we're back at the YMCA.
It's a reasonable time as well- about 9. Tomorrow we have to get up earlier than usual, but hopefully, I can get enough sleep.
Goodnight, and sleep well. :)
