Musings of a Perfectionist

So I'm doing this sheet of revision stuff for Macbeth, and something is really bugging me about it. Basically, the 'idea' that Macbeth is bad and Macduff/Malcolm is good. 'Bad' and 'good'. Besides the fact that they are very black and white terms- and the world is more grey- I honestly don't think that Malcolm or Macduff are that great either. Macbeth is 'bad', but, at least at the beginning of the play, he's considered 'good' by everyone. People don't change that much, and although he does become a tyrant (murdering people left, right and centre isn't cool people) he's not necessarily evil . He's not good, obviously, but he has got good qualities as well. Malcolm is portrayed to be a virtuous, good man who becomes an amazing king at the end of the play- but he's also an older brother who leaves his brother. I've been a little busy recently, which is sad because I like writing stuff for my blog. But yeah, exams suck and I'm so tired already and I've still got another week  but look on the bright side- oh, no, wait. There is no bright side. In other news, I don't really have anything important to talk about? Shock, horror, I know, but honestly, everything's just been so busy lately that I haven't thought about the latest news story and nothing funny happens at school anymore because, guess what? We're in exams! I had Food Practical for two hours today, but I'm not going into detail with that. Let's just say, I'm very glad that I have friends who are happy to give hugs, and that my hands were shaking so badly that I couldn't cut up the onions. But anyway! Yesterday we went to see Macbeth after school (we got back at midnight) and it was flipping awesome! (I now will not use exclamation marks for a few days, as I've used up my weekly limit...

So, in English, we have to do a presentation about a theme in Macbeth. As well as being completely terrified of public speaking (especially to my peers), I also have an embarrassing habit of going off on a massive rant about something that...is only very vaguely connected to what I am supposed to be speaking about. Case in point: I was practising with a friend, and I managed to spend at least two minutes rambling on about James I and the Duke of Buckingham, and about Shakespeare's sonnets (spoiler- someone changed the pronouns!) Anyway, I have decided to write down my speech here. Hopefully, it will give me more of a structure to follow so that I don't make it up on the spot.
