Do You Know What A Flavoured Reed Is? Don't Ask Me, I Play The Flute

I found this in my draft folder the other day, and even though I don't actually go to Sinfonia anymore (due to the joy of exams), I thought that maybe I'd add some of the stuff to today's post. So, enjoy, I guess? I play flute in a few music groups, most of them are at school, but that's cool. Church has the better acoustics, and surprisingly I have about the same amount of space whether I play at school or squished in the corner at church. It doesn't help that playing the flute means (probably) poking the person next to you with your instrument. And playing the flute also means that tuning involves playing the note, pulling out/pushing in the head and saying close enough, knowing full well that the flute will heat up as you play and will go out of tune again. The joy of being musical. And this is what I was going to write a post about: we have a question at the beginning of orchestra, or at least, we used to. But anyway, here are some examples with my an

Meet My New Friends

So it's half term this week (yay!) and then after that, I have two weeks of exams (plus the next Tuesday for Add Maths) and then it's summer! There is a light shining at the end of the tunnel, I do believe. Do you know what my favourite thing to revise is? I love doing English Language Paper 1 papers, simply because I get to write a creative story and that makes me happy. When doing revision, it's important to be happy. Happiness, for me, often comes from doing things creatively, so I tend to do origami when I'm revising (also that's also stress-origami making...) And as I've made quite a lot of origami, I thought that I'd share some of the creations with you (also because there's only so much I can write about revision and looking after yourself etcetera). As you can see, I have two flowers (lotus is just origami, dahlia involves making lots of petals and sticking them all together) and butterflies (because they're easy to make). The

Voila, with a Shiny New Post

So exams have well and truly started (yay) and my friend still told me that I needed to update my blog, and voila! Hope you're happy, friend. ☺️ Exams done: French Reading/Listening, Biology 1, English Lit 1. To be honest, I think that they all went okay, for GCSEs. It still doesn't feel like I'm doing actual, proper exams though. Will it ever? I don't know. Maybe when I get my results. But that's ages away, and besides, I still have two more exams this week alone, so revising it is. Fear not, however, for I am having rests and tea breaks (lots of tea breaks, because I love tea). I've been watching TV- like Ghosts (on BBC iPlayer) which was created by the old Horrible Histories cast, and also the new Taskmaster episode (I was actually crying with laughter yesterday when we watched it, which is, of course, better than just crying). And tomorrow, as I go on Study Leave (which will be weird, no?) I will be hopefully going on a run. I mean, I could get u

Well, This Post Is Just The Cat's Pyjamas

Only a few days until GCSE's properly begin (with French Reading/Listening, of all things) but I'm not worrying too much about those. Yesterday (I did do some revision but) I had a ballet show, so I played cards and ate a lot of sweets and allowed my sister to torture me (*put makeup on me). Also, my other sister managed to scratch me with her hairbrush, which meant that my back looked like it had been attacked by some demon creature- so some of the others dabbed foundation on it (which stung awfully) so it wasn't quite so obvious. Fun times. And I didn't kick anyone this year! But I was wearing pointe shoes and I still can't feel my feet. :( Today, although I will be doing an afternoon of revision, I did a litter pick with my village. The thing with living in such a small village is that you get the whole community thing, which (contrary to popular belief) I actually really like. My family (apart from my dad) joined one other lady and spent an hour walkin

Demonic Possession Isn't Very Useful (as I have discovered)

Morning! It's fairly sunny at the moment (which is why I went for a run this morning) but I'm waiting for the grey clouds to pass overhead and drop their precious cargo. Like they did yesterday as we were leaving school . I hope that my bag is dry now. So, to the title: nosebleeds can be a sign of demonic possession (depending what kind of myths and stuff you're looking at) and as I have a lot of nosebleeds: hey demon in my head, please help me do well in my exams. And also please stop making me bleed everywhere (although I'm on a 3-week streak of no bleeding- yay!!) I'm kidding (at least, I hope I'm kidding...) of course- as if I need help to pass my exams!  But they're approaching fast (5 more school days left) and I'm actually quite glad about this. I just want them to start, because once they have, I can start crossing off subjects/topics and I know that it'll all go very quickly. And I don't think I'm stressed (surely I
