Message to the Young (and not-so young, if they care)

Turn on the news and you'll see one of three things- the latest terrorist attack, celebrity gossip, or something to do with the environment. There's not so much we (or anyone, for that matter) can actually do to stop terrorism, and I, for one, do not count celebrity gossip as actual news, but the environmental disasters? Maybe there is something I can do. We can do. Of course, I'm not suggesting that we build machines to prevent, say, land from tumbling down a slope in a fatal run for lower ground. This would be pointless. I'm sure that many of you take Geography, and most of you should have a simple understanding about the tectonic plates that drive our world and also cause the deadly earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes that all human beings fear. There's not so much that we can do about these, and I'm not saying that we should try to prevent nature from taking its course. But all of you will know about climate change. All of you will know about the c

Macbeth Ramblings* (*Ravings)

So I'm doing this sheet of revision stuff for Macbeth, and something is really bugging me about it. Basically, the 'idea' that Macbeth is bad and Macduff/Malcolm is good. 'Bad' and 'good'. Besides the fact that they are very black and white terms- and the world is more grey- I honestly don't think that Malcolm or Macduff are that great either. Macbeth is 'bad', but, at least at the beginning of the play, he's considered 'good' by everyone. People don't change that much, and although he does become a tyrant (murdering people left, right and centre isn't cool people) he's not necessarily evil . He's not good, obviously, but he has got good qualities as well. Malcolm is portrayed to be a virtuous, good man who becomes an amazing king at the end of the play- but he's also an older brother who leaves his brother. As an older sibling, I assure you that, if my father was murdered, I would not abandon my younger si

Outwit Your Friends (Only Possible If You Know Them Well Enough)

Hey guys! So yesterday, while we were going to Pizza Express for my sister's birthday (I got nice and travel sick, as you do), I remembered the rave that I went to a few years ago, and thought that I'd tell you all about it. At least, tell you about the bits I can remember. It was at least three years ago. But anyway- the rave! A rave, by the way, is apparently an organised dance party at a nightclub, outdoor festival, warehouse, or other private property. I mean, I guess the rave I went to was like this? It was a rave in Ely Cathedral (Rave in the Nave is a pretty awesome name, and never fails to make me laugh) so private property? And I did dance- on the Wii (we did Timewarp and it was amazing). There was music (and I guess dancing?) but I don't remember who played, or what they played- but I'm assuming it was Christian Rock, or something similar. What else was there? Well, I went with a friend, and we met up with some other people we knew. I remember

Status: Drinking Earl Grey Tea Because I Feel 'Posh'

Hey! I'm here to grace your life for a few minutes as you read this (totally interesting) post about whatever comes into my head. So exams are soon (yay) and I'm spending my Easter holidays doing revision- although I did go outside today (are you proud?) because we went out for my sister's birthday. And I also went out yesterday, to have lunch with my friends and my "Nana" (who has basically adopted me 😊). Yesterday, I also went to a Maths revision session for three hours and I thought that I'd share this wonderful website that we were told about, where you can do practice papers- online! You're welcome. *bows* And isn't it interesting: doing an English Language paper is the thing that makes me want to write something again. So after revision, I'm actually going to do some creative writing ( update: if you're interested, the piece that I just wrote can be found here )! I don't think that the weather knows what it's doing at
