Mandatory Intro Post

Hi everyone! I set up this blog on the urgings of my friend (yay!), so that I could share my stories/poems (mostly).

 As you can probably work out from the name of my blog, most posts will be 'musings'. What does a musing mean, you ask?
Well, I hear you! It means: a period of reflection or thought.

 This blog won't be filled with my work, although I do like English, so there will probably be a lot... my 'musings' will also include rambling discussions on history and politics and whatever takes my fancy, contemplation about the food that I have made (with pictures!), and reflections on anything that happens to me as I go about my daily life.

Carers Week

Hi everyone! It feels like it's been ages since I last posted anything (or really wrote anything for that matter) but hey, exams! Anyway, this week (11th-17th June) is Carers Week, so I thought that I'd do some raising of awareness for Young Carers. First of all, shout out to my friend for standing up in assembly to talk about this, and for all those who ran the cake stall at school (they raised £69!). She's so amazing, and most of the following information comes from her. There are three main types of care that someone can provide-  physical (e.g helping to get dressed), practical (e.g shopping) and emotional (e.g comforting them if they’re upset or anxious etc). I Find Out A Load About The Railway Industry

Heya friends! I've been up to quite a lot recently (including finishing Draft One of my Maths coursework yesssss) and today, I decided to do some researching about women in the railway industry (to be fair, this is for a challenge badge but also I am interested in female empowerment and the state of equality/lack of in the railway industry is an excellent indication of general equality in Britain). So yeah. I found out a load about the railway industry and now you can too! At the birth of the railway near the beginning of the 19th Century (around the 1830s), the industry was structured in such a way to mirror how society worked. This meant that fathers and sons would follow each other into the industry while the women would become wives and mothers. They were, however, hired by rail companies to work although this work was prohibited to ‘women’s work’ such as cleaning and sewing.
