Peace and Goodwill To All Mankind

Yay for the holidays!

School is over until 2019, and I am not the only one who is grateful for this (at least...I'm pretty sure I'm not?)

Do I have a lot to do over the holidays?

Sadly, yes. Some are things that I have to do (homework, revision) and some are things that I should do (sort out my shelves (because we moved house in September and while everything is out of boxes, it's not sorted out)) and some are things that I want to do (writing!).

But I'll also make sure that I enjoy Christmas this year, especially being able to spend time with family. Even though it will be loud and intense and full of playing board games (or Pictionary, because our family is awesome) I'll enjoy it all.

Every minute.

A few years ago, my dad ended up in hospital for a bit just before Christmas. It was terrifying, especially as no one really knew what was wrong with him and I was round a friend's house when it happened- so I found out when I glanced at my phone while playing Monopoly.

But he was okay, and when he came back home (a couple of days before Christmas, luckily) the relatives who were staying over Christmas were great.

We have this tradition that, on Christmas Eve, we have a tapas-style meal, and each pair is in charge of making a few of the dishes. We play music and we laugh and tease each other, and it's brilliant.

Anyway, that year, I had to go to the garage for some reason, and I just paused.

The light was glowing from the kitchen, the stars were bright, it was cool and crisp and dark outside, and I could hear everyone laughing and talking and it was just so wonderful.

Peaceful, despite all that had happened that year, because I was with my family and we were all okay at that moment.

So try to enjoy Christmas, whether you're spending it alone or with your immediate family, or you're seeing all your relatives. Christmas is a time for family (and yes, I'm aware that I kind of sound like Charles Dickens, but he was right) so remember that.

As the week progresses and you aren't at work/school, revel in being able to spend time with your loved ones. Christmas is coming (as are more blog posts about Christmas, so make sure you've subscribed ☺️)!
