You Haven't Read Little Women? Whyever Not?

Gooood afternoon, all! Again, very sorry about the longness between posts, but in my defence, I was off school for a WHOLE WEEK last week, and I now have managed to contract a cold (which is very unfair, in my personal opinion- why do I have to have back-to-back illnesses?). And then I've been hurriedly catching up with all the work I missed- hint for sixth form: don't miss school otherwise you'll have way too much work to do and your recovery will not be quite as fast. But I'm pretty much caught up now (yay) and so just need to do the homework due over the next week (double yay), of which I have just finished my history essay. This post may, therefore, be some form of procrastination before I continue with work (learning words for Anthropology, I believe, is planned next) but also I realised that I had not written anything about the truly brilliant film that I watched in the cinema at the beginning of January! The travesty! So here is my post about it (and also '...

Don't Eat The Mice!!

WOAH is this an update I see? It is, my dear friends- I am here to bestow wisdom upon you once more, only four days after my last wisdom-bestowing post. Aren't you so very lucky. My sister is currently decorating her room, which is next to mine, so there's the wafting of paint down the corridor and in my room, so I may seem out of sorts...also I have a massive headache and I'm very very tired so there's that too. TWO DAYS!! I may be a little excited. But anyway. So there's the paint smell (though your room looks very pretty, little sister!) but there is also the warmth smell. Yes- my radiator is officially on and running! My feet are toasty now :) and also there is the classic warmth smell of my radiator. I don't know if it's because it's so old? But it smells like comfort and sleep and warmth and reminds me of curling under fluffy blankets. There may be something that I want to do. Also, I really would like to be a cat when it comes to winter ...

Dancing Can Actually Be Fun (Who Knew?)!

Yesterday, I had my prom. I've been looking forward to writing a post about it probably longer than I've been looking forward to prom (this is mostly because I was fairly nervous about going to prom in the first place). And this post was going to be a slightly satirical account of my time: foiled by the fact that I did actually enjoy myself a lot. Pre-prom was fun simply because all my friends were basically just hanging out in my garden as various people did hair/makeup. The only unfun thing was that my sister kept poking me in the face when doing my makeup because she is evil and mean. I'm joking. She's lovely. She did my makeup and my hair. What bad things could I possibly say about her now? One of my friends actually started crying when she saw us, which was lovely because being told that you look amazing is wonderful, but it was also worrying because makeup and tears do not mix well. But we did all look beautiful, and I now have so many photos- some are nicel...

Macbeth Ramblings* (*Ravings)

So I'm doing this sheet of revision stuff for Macbeth, and something is really bugging me about it. Basically, the 'idea' that Macbeth is bad and Macduff/Malcolm is good. 'Bad' and 'good'. Besides the fact that they are very black and white terms- and the world is more grey- I honestly don't think that Malcolm or Macduff are that great either. Macbeth is 'bad', but, at least at the beginning of the play, he's considered 'good' by everyone. People don't change that much, and although he does become a tyrant (murdering people left, right and centre isn't cool people) he's not necessarily evil . He's not good, obviously, but he has got good qualities as well. Malcolm is portrayed to be a virtuous, good man who becomes an amazing king at the end of the play- but he's also an older brother who leaves his brother. As an older sibling, I assure you that, if my father was murdered, I would not abandon my younger si...

Ikea and Sid

Image
For those of you who have been to Ikea, you will agree with me when I say that it is a wonderful place. For those who haven't, think of a restaurant mixed with furniture and you pretty much get the idea. (Besides, you must have heard the glorious tales of losing one's way and one's family...who hasn't?) My family go on a day trip to Ikea. We start off early (it takes an hour in the car- eugh) and have breakfast when we get to Ikea (apart from my youngest sister- she threw up once because she hadn't eaten anything and we had to go home and it was a sad day for us all). Then we walk around the Showroom section, looking at how the rooms are all set out and choosing which kitchens we'd like. (I basically adopt the one bedroom apartment- if you've gone to Ikea, you'll know what I'm talking about). After this wandering, we enter the Market Hall and this is where we spend most of our money. (*cough* over one hundred pounds *cough*) (I only bought a ne...
