No!! Don't Pass The Beach Ball To Larry...Larry's a Narwhal!

Image
Happy last day of GCSEs!! For most of us. Not me, because I do Add Maths. And not for people who do German. It's sad. But, for me anyway, Add Maths doesn't really matter and so I'm 'celebrating' today. My mum and I went out for lunch- I had an amazing lemon meringue pie, which always reminds me of when I made it in a food class. Then we went to W.H.Smiths and I now am the proud owner of two new books and a fluffy notebook with an adorable picture of a narwhal on it. I love narwhals. I have narwhal socks that are glittery. Narwhals are great. I mean, who couldn't love this beautiful creature?  Oooh! Speaking of narwhals, have you read 'Why The Whales Came' by Michael Morpurgo? It's one of my favourite books by him, I think, alongside 'War Horse', 'Private Peaceful' and 'Running Wild'. Anyway. Onto politics.  No, I'm just going to say that I don't know exactly who I'd like to become our next wonderful l...

Do You Know What A Flavoured Reed Is? Don't Ask Me, I Play The Flute

I found this in my draft folder the other day, and even though I don't actually go to Sinfonia anymore (due to the joy of exams), I thought that maybe I'd add some of the stuff to today's post. So, enjoy, I guess? I play flute in a few music groups, most of them are at school, but that's cool. Church has the better acoustics, and surprisingly I have about the same amount of space whether I play at school or squished in the corner at church. It doesn't help that playing the flute means (probably) poking the person next to you with your instrument. And playing the flute also means that tuning involves playing the note, pulling out/pushing in the head and saying close enough, knowing full well that the flute will heat up as you play and will go out of tune again. The joy of being musical. And this is what I was going to write a post about: we have a question at the beginning of orchestra, or at least, we used to. But anyway, here are some examples with my an...

At The Close of One Door

Image
I've just finished watching (binge-watching) 'Outnumbered', so I'm feeling a bit lost (what better way to ground myself than by writing a blog post, am I right). But I didn't cry (too much) at the last episode, like I did during to whole of the last episode of 'Bad Education'. But, anyway, if you haven't seen 'Outnumbered', I'd suggest watching it. So many of the things that happened are just so right and, as the oldest sibling, it makes sense. It helps that it is incredibly funny as well. So go and watch it (it's on BBC iPlayer at the moment) or go and rewatch it. But as one door closes, another opens, so I've just started doing 40acts for Lent. It's a Christian thing that sends me an email every day with challenges (easy, medium, hard) to be more generous, more loving, but whatever your religious beliefs, I think it's important to think of others, and what better time than right now to start (click this link to begin)....

Am I A Cat (Thoughts Please)

I went to IKEA today, which was fun, although I got pretty tired about halfway around the showroom. And when I get tired, there are different levels of tired. Sleepy tired-  this is when I basically become a cat (speaking of cats, I have received a lot of cat-related gifts recently...). Exhausted tired-  so exhausted that I can't keep my eyes open. Will probably just fall asleep no matter where I am. Loony tired-  tired to the point of (almost) insanity. I say weird stuff (that should be written down because it would make a bestselling comedic book) and people tend to laugh at me (or call me cute. I don't know which is worse). But I was loony tired in IKEA, which was probably the highlight of my trip. That, or me leaving my phone in the toilet and having to go back and get it- scariest minute of my life. Moving on to why we went to IKEA- so that I could get some more storage boxes/folders (and my family bought stuff as well) because the best part of Chris...
