A Family of Owls

Image
Hey everyone! I've been thrown a bit by the new Blogger update - it looks fancy and actually like something that belongs in this decade (or even the 2010s... shock horror) but it's weird . I'm really hoping that my formatting isn't messed with but sorry if it is. (Edited note: the picture uploading was always pretty bad but now it's worse?!? I didn't realise that this was possible but just go with it.) I've been doing some crafts recently - something to do with all of this free time (around lessons) I'm having all of a sudden - and thought that I'd use my blog to share some of it, as and when I complete it. Especially if I write it up as CAS, along with this blog.  The most recent thing that I've done is a little cross stitch (as can be seen below) of some owls in a tree. I did it because we had to do something that was new and that was a challenge for Rangers and I had been putting it off for ages because I didn't think that I'd be any g...

Don't Eat The Mice!!

WOAH is this an update I see? It is, my dear friends- I am here to bestow wisdom upon you once more, only four days after my last wisdom-bestowing post. Aren't you so very lucky. My sister is currently decorating her room, which is next to mine, so there's the wafting of paint down the corridor and in my room, so I may seem out of sorts...also I have a massive headache and I'm very very tired so there's that too. TWO DAYS!! I may be a little excited. But anyway. So there's the paint smell (though your room looks very pretty, little sister!) but there is also the warmth smell. Yes- my radiator is officially on and running! My feet are toasty now :) and also there is the classic warmth smell of my radiator. I don't know if it's because it's so old? But it smells like comfort and sleep and warmth and reminds me of curling under fluffy blankets. There may be something that I want to do. Also, I really would like to be a cat when it comes to winter ...

I Write This Post As My Cat Tries To Sit On My Keyboard (I Will Not Let Her)

So I thought that I ought to write another post, as I haven't done so for 17 days. Crazy. Last time I wrote a post nothing much had happened- now, Result's Day is just around the corner (on Thursday) and those who did A-Levels have received their grades (congratulations to those who did, by the way). This is not a post about Result's Day, however. If I remember (I'll add it to my list) I'll write a post on Friday, so after I've read through my results and enrolled in whichever Sixth Form I end up choosing. See, people who are worried about Year 11 because it involves choosing a school? I haven't chosen yet! Oh, and happy birthday to my friend, lovingly nicknamed 'Falafel'. We're going to be famous together when we're older, so I suppose I should start adding to the collection of stuff that proves we knew each other. What is this post actually about? To be honest, there's not much, as this week will be my busiest week. I have a fri...

Outwit Your Friends (Only Possible If You Know Them Well Enough)

Hey guys! So yesterday, while we were going to Pizza Express for my sister's birthday (I got nice and travel sick, as you do), I remembered the rave that I went to a few years ago, and thought that I'd tell you all about it. At least, tell you about the bits I can remember. It was at least three years ago. But anyway- the rave! A rave, by the way, is apparently an organised dance party at a nightclub, outdoor festival, warehouse, or other private property. I mean, I guess the rave I went to was like this? It was a rave in Ely Cathedral (Rave in the Nave is a pretty awesome name, and never fails to make me laugh) so private property? And I did dance- on the Wii (we did Timewarp and it was amazing). There was music (and I guess dancing?) but I don't remember who played, or what they played- but I'm assuming it was Christian Rock, or something similar. What else was there? Well, I went with a friend, and we met up with some other people we knew. I remember ...

That Moment When You Remember That You Still Need To Think Of A Title

Image
Hi everyone! So, I haven't written anything for ages (oops) and I thought I might as well. There's not much to comment on society wise- Cyclone Idia has wreaked havoc in southern Africa, Brexit still is/isn't happening, Trump is still there, and I found a wonderful little article about the history of the white picket fence (it can be found here ) So what can I write about? Well, sometimes I write my name and think, "that's such a weird name" and then I remember that it's my name. Incidentally, the same one that I've had for sixteen years . Can't get the people these days. And does this happen to anyone else? John Dalton developed a stomach ulcer (joking, he actually developed the modern atomic theory but Tassomai gave that as one of the possible answers for a question- another one would be that the three states of matter are Texas, Washington and New York). I love doing revision. When I get to something like this (when I don't have an...

I've Gone On An Adventure (but next time I'm going to bring my cat!)

Image
So we are currently half way through the week of half term here, and have I done anything but revise? As a matter of fact, I have indeed done other things (and I hope that you, dear reader, have not been focusing on school/work this week...) For example, I went out to have a coffee with my friend yesterday (although I probably shouldn't have had yet another coffee), which was lovely. And I actually went outside. And then I also went outside today, because the gate to our front door (that we don't use) was open and I wanted to shut it. What I didn't realise was that the gate is such a long way away from our side door. I should have brought snacks and a bottle of water. And I also went to the dentist today (which is okay, although I have to have a crown put on one of my teeth after GCSEs). And while we were there, we heard the news that one lucky cat could inherit £150 million! In case you haven't heard, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupetter, co...

Float Upwards on a Cloud of Happiness and Positivity

Image
A couple of days ago in our weekly English Language lesson, we were looking at this article from the Daily Mail. It doesn't really matter exactly what it said, only that it was talking about self-love vs tough love (if you're really really interested, it's the first article if you click this link ) Apparently, children nowadays have too much self-love and therefore aren't told when they do something wrong, leading to a generation of children who refuse to believe that they are capable of doing anything wrong. Yay, according to some people we're a generation of mini Henry VIIIs. Spoilt and unable to withstand the harshness of criticism. Hmmm. Somehow I think that this is wrong. Yeah, sure there are children who have been completing spoilt by their parents and that's wrong . But the tough love that needs to occur in children such as these is not the same as self-esteem/self-love. Definitions (if unsure): Tough love-  promotion of a person's welfa...

Am I A Cat (Thoughts Please)

I went to IKEA today, which was fun, although I got pretty tired about halfway around the showroom. And when I get tired, there are different levels of tired. Sleepy tired-  this is when I basically become a cat (speaking of cats, I have received a lot of cat-related gifts recently...). Exhausted tired-  so exhausted that I can't keep my eyes open. Will probably just fall asleep no matter where I am. Loony tired-  tired to the point of (almost) insanity. I say weird stuff (that should be written down because it would make a bestselling comedic book) and people tend to laugh at me (or call me cute. I don't know which is worse). But I was loony tired in IKEA, which was probably the highlight of my trip. That, or me leaving my phone in the toilet and having to go back and get it- scariest minute of my life. Moving on to why we went to IKEA- so that I could get some more storage boxes/folders (and my family bought stuff as well) because the best part of Chris...

Is This Real Life?

My friend (the artist one who is designing the cover for my book) and I went to see Bohemian Rhapsody yesterday in the cinema, and it was amazing!! We both love Queen, and we both spent most of the film crying, but I urge you to see it (either in the cinema or when it comes out). There was a scene in the film where Freddie Mercury has bought a mansion and says that each of his cats has their own room. Eliza just looked at me and I knew she was looking at me. I'm going to be a mad cat lady when I'm older, and apparently, I'm going to be rich and famous with a mansion so that each of my cats can have their own room. Yay? What's wrong with cats though? There's nothing wrong with being a mad cat lady (trust me). And I'll have a mansion. But I just thought I'd share this with you, as well as urge you to see Bohemian Rhapsody at some point.

Why Do I Always Forget To Add A Title Until It's Too Late

Good evening, folks. Today was an eventful day in all areas, linking back to two previous posts-  Geography Fieldwork  and  visiting a Sixth Form . Also, as I'm writing this, my cat is trying to sit on my laptop, so some of this may make no sense. Let's start with the Geography Trip, shall we? Basically, we went to London to research the effectiveness of cycling schemes (hint: not too effective). We had to tally up modes of transport and (the best bit), we had to ask the public questions about their use of the cycles. We ended up getting told that we couldn't talk to people where we were talking to them, which was strange and also funny at the same time. Then we went to the Olympic Park (one of our many case studies is about it) and had a very very quick look around, before we went back home. (I slept on the way back. I'm pretty sure I'm secretly a cat- I woke up when we were about 15 minutes from school, told myself to stay awake, then went to sleep again...

Why Do We Celebrate Bonfire Night (The Truth is a Strange Thing)

Image
Happy burning Catholics day! I'm joking, of course. But, don't you think it's a bit weird that we still light fireworks and 'celebrate' the King nearly getting blown up by a group of desperate Catholics? It's an incredibly bizarre celebration, if you think about it too much. This is what Google says:  On the very  night  that the Gunpowder Plot was foiled, on November 5th, 1605, bonfires  were set alight to  celebrate  the safety of the King. Since then, November 5th has become known as  Bonfire Night . The event is commemorated every year with fireworks and burning effigies of  Guy Fawkes  on a  bonfire . ...yay? Ignoring this, I have a reminder for those of you who have cats/other pets, to do with fireworks . And because I love pusheen cartoons, here's one for you: Look after your pets (and younger siblings I guess) when it gets too noisy! In other news, I played Junk Art on Saturday! If you've never played it, I urg...

Cats and Cheesecake

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I hope that your weekend was wonderful, and you didn't burn too much (I burnt my legs and they hurt a lot ). We visited my mum's family this weekend. My parents stayed with my aunt and my uncle, and we (my sisters and I) stayed with my cousin and her boyfriend in their new house (very exciting!). We watched ' The Greatest Showman ' (amazing) and we also watched ' A Street Cat Named Bob ', as per the title (the cat, Bob, is ginger and the cutest little thing ever). This film was stunning. It's so adorable, and perfectly encases what being a cat owner is like, while also taking on big issues such as addiction and homelessness. And what's more, it is based on a true story! Go and watch it, I promise you that it will be amazing. I also went swimming in the sea on Saturday. Most of my mum's family lives by the sea, and so we went down at high tide and swam for a bit (and my sister choked and splashed because she can't swim...
